2021-09-29 07:15:58 <Solid> If you see many people say if maybe there's some truth to it after all ;) I will freely admit that my experience with nix is rather minimal (lack of documentation made me lose interest) but with regards to Haskell packages it always felt like a lot of extra effort (over literally `stack install`) for spurious advantages

Being able to easily contribute is separate from the question of what the easiest way to set things up is. I just think that this idea that it's hard is not founded on anything, and in fact, setting it up with nix does not even require you to have anything except for nix itself to be installed.
2021-09-29 08:11:54 <elonsroadster[m]> <deebo> "if i want to use xmonad but have..." <- Taffybar was made with this (especially the tray part in mind) xmobar is what most xmobar users use these days, but tray support is not included (although there are ways to set up stalonetray or trader to work with this). However trader and stalone tray are xembed tray implementations, which is deprecated and generally quite broken, imo.
