2022-12-05 19:04:58 <AskYourself[m]> See how XMO is hidden but still visible?
2022-12-05 19:06:10 <geekosaur> ppHidden = const ""
2022-12-05 19:06:39 <geekosaur> (in your PP)
2022-12-05 19:07:51 <AskYourself[m]> I think I need to do that on ppHiddenNoWindows only, but yes ok that worked perfectly, thank you.
2022-12-05 19:08:06 <AskYourself[m]> Also that bug report will be later today or tmo, cause I have an exam to write, just fyi.
2022-12-05 19:11:50 <AskYourself[m]> Oh and one last thing. Is there a way to force the prompt into my middle monitor? I don't see a setting in the part of the docks for the prompt, just a centring thing that works per monitor, not across monitors.

2022-12-05 19:12:16 <AskYourself[m]> * Oh and one last thing. Is there a way to force the prompt into my middle monitor? I don't see a setting in the part of the docs for the prompt, just a centring thing that works per monitor, not across multiple monitors.
2022-12-05 19:12:48 <geekosaur> I don't think so
2022-12-05 19:13:12 <geekosaur> it always goes to the monitor that has focus
2022-12-05 19:13:35 <AskYourself[m]> Ah that's a little unfortunate. I like to overlap and theme xmobar, prompt, rofi so it all looks ilke one thing.
2022-12-05 19:13:51 <AskYourself[m]> Which it does, but not on the monitors lacking xmobar.
2022-12-05 19:13:59 <AskYourself[m]> On those the prompt will overlap active windows.
2022-12-05 19:14:10 <AskYourself[m]> 😢
2022-12-05 19:15:13 <liskin> ChaoticMist[m]: oh ok that's extra bad. Which country btw?

2022-12-05 21:30:31 <thyriaen> i want to cycle through all open windows in an alt-tab kinda style across all workspaces - are there standalone applications for it and what are they called ?
2022-12-05 21:33:19 <geekosaur> usually that's a window manager function. but I'm not sure we have one that works over all workspaces
2022-12-05 21:33:35 <geekosaur> the usual one (CycleWindows) is workspace only
2022-12-05 21:36:45 <geekosaur> but I also feel like this was discussed recently and I'm forgetting it. (just checked Actions and it's not in git, at least not there)
2022-12-05 21:44:24 <thyriaen> geekosaur, howdy my friend
2022-12-05 21:45:32 <thyriaen> i have some strange behavior when i super-right-click to resize the window - the cursor instantly jumps in the top left of my main screen making the screen instantly tiny - it is very annoying - how can i stop the cursor from jumping on rightclick ?
2022-12-05 21:53:05 <geekosaur> normally it jumps to the bottom of the window (clipping it into the screen if it overlaps). do you have something like unclutter running? or X.A.Warp?
2022-12-05 21:53:33 <thyriaen> no
2022-12-05 21:55:06 <thyriaen> geekosaur, it jumps to about ( 1/3, 1/4 ) of my main screen with (0,0) being top right
2022-12-05 21:55:27 <thyriaen> left left i ment

2022-12-05 21:57:30 <thyriaen> geekosaur, is there a alternative command to "spawn" which instead of spawning another window it switches to the one, if it already exists ?
2022-12-05 21:57:43 <thyriaen> so i always just have one instance of a program running if i press that button
2022-12-05 21:58:03 <thyriaen> ( and spawns it if it doesn't )
2022-12-05 22:00:33 <geekosaur> https://hackage.haskell.org/package/xmonad-contrib/docs/XMonad-Actions-WindowGo.html#v:runOrRaise
2022-12-05 22:01:14 <geekosaur> also I'm not seeing anything in particular in your config that would break resizing windows
2022-12-05 22:01:28 <geekosaur> it really does sound like something external is warping the pointer
2022-12-05 22:02:15 <thyriaen> geekosaur, i don't know what i could be - i am running a bare system

2022-12-06 02:03:57 <[Leary]> @tell thyriaen There's an alt+tab PR I made recently, but it's still a WIP. I need to commit some new changes before it's ready for more testing. I can ping you about it, if you want to test it.
2022-12-06 02:03:57 <lambdabot> Consider it noted.
2022-12-06 02:04:20 <geekosaur> oh, is that what I was trying to remember

2022-12-06 02:10:39 <liskin> speaking of alttab, https://github.com/sagb/alttab isn't too bad
2022-12-06 02:11:06 <liskin> it's out of xmonad but you get a nice ui as a compensation :-)

2022-12-06 10:58:07 <thyriaen> geekosaur, i have removed focustracking from my settings, due to that multi monitor bug ( sending screen underneeth ) -- however now i get this strange issue that when i have a floating window ontop of a tabbed layout, it switches tabs when the floating window gets focus -- how can i fix it without focustracking ?
2022-12-06 11:02:48 <[Leary]> thyriaen: It's not a strange issue, it's exactly what focusTracking was fixing. Try replacing it with X.L.TrackFloating.trackFloating, which is the same but has a fix for the issue.
2022-12-06 11:06:08 <thyriaen> [Leary], ah nice
2022-12-06 11:06:10 <thyriaen> and with that i won
2022-12-06 11:06:36 <thyriaen> i won't have the issue that it will put the windows i switch to different monitors underneath everything instead of on top ?
2022-12-06 11:21:41 <[Leary]> thyriaen: Probably---try it and find out. The fix that that version has just makes it a somewhat better shim; there will still be quirks if you look hard enough.
2022-12-06 11:22:34 <thyriaen> [Leary], i will try it later today -- thanks a lot
2022-12-06 11:23:20 <thyriaen> [Leary], let me know about the alt tab thingy if you want me to test it
2022-12-06 11:23:55 <[Leary]> Cool, will do.
2022-12-06 11:24:12 <thyriaen> [Leary], does it have visual feedback ?
2022-12-06 11:26:02 <[Leary]> Yes, the default behaviour focuses the windows as you tab through them.
2022-12-06 11:26:35 <thyriaen> ah yea, that is even better than having a overlay pop up like on windows for example - now that i think about it
